Excellence within excellence.

Throught 2 World War

1915-2015 one hundred years after the war in Collio

The territory of San Floriano, together with the Collio in general, played a central role during the 1st World War, now celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Belonging to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the young people of the region were called up to arms in 1914, participating in the Russian and Serbian fronts. With the entry of the Kingdom of Italy into the war in May 1915, the Collio became the first battle line. The Italian command aimed at these strategic lands for the capture of Gorizia, considered unredeemed.

After the conquest in August 1916, the 12th Battle of the Isonzo (Battle of Caporetto) in 1917 led to the Italian retreat to the Piave River. Gorizia and the Collio were quickly recovered by the Habsburg troops. The Italian army returned only in November 1918, marking a series of victories and defeats that caused profound damage to the territory, with buildings and agriculture destroyed.

Today, after a hundred years, by exploring the Collio vineyards, it is possible to discover evidence of this difficult history: trenches, military cemeteries, monuments and the Oslavia Ossuary, a warning to avoid fratricidal wars.

DOC Collio

Excellence in excellence

The name and the life of our company are historically linked to the Collio, the area par excellence for white wines in Italy. The heart of our production grows and matures within the DOC Collio territories, of which San Floriano is definitely one of the most prosperous areas.

The excellence in the excellence. The Muzic company has been a member of the Consortium for the protection of Collio wines for decades, the third oldest in Italy and among the first and foremost in Europe, participating in the initiatives it proposed and carried out.

The demonstration of the double bond between our company and the Consortium was the adoption of the “Collio bottle”, for exclusive use with DOC Collio certified wines, made immediately recognizable by its shape, and designed to enhance the products of our territory during maturation in the bottle.

From the vineyard to the bottle, everything passes through our hands, without compromise.
